Conveniently located just off Route 11 in Danville, CrossFit Iron and Steel is able to offer you an unrivaled fitness experience. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. Our routines are the same for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen. The magic is in the movements. All of CrossFit’s workouts are based on functional movements. These are the core movements of life, found everywhere, and built naturally into our DNA. They move the largest loads the longest distances so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time (intensity). CrossFit itself is defined as that which optimizes fitness (constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity).
CrossFit is also the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together. In fact, the communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective. Speaking of constantly varied movements, CrossFit Iron and Steel’s convenient location inside the Danville Area Community Center gives us year-round access to the only indoor pool in Montour County allowing us to incorporate monthly pool workouts into our regimen. Heading right to work from the gym? Not a problem. The DACC has extensive locker room facilities that are available for use by all CFI&S members.
